Why SIN?

While many people simply view sin as a religious transgression or think that we produce porn. We don’t. Our goal at SIN Productions is to provide a viewing experience, which allows people to further expand their minds around what a sin is—what it means to sin and the unconscious forces that lead us into sin when we don’t deal with unresolved trauma. We all sin. We just want you to sin with us.

Inez Scott

Shanyse Inez is a New York based filmmaker who spent her formative years in Philadelphia. When she was seventeen years old, she joined the Air Force as a computer support administrator. During her down time in the Air Force, she volunteered as a sexual assault victim’s advocate and an advocate for survivors of domestic violence. After 7 years of honorable service, she left the military and began to pursue her dual passions, working with survivors of trauma and telling stories of tragedy and transformation about the many women she encountered both in her early life and during her time in the Air Force.
Shanyse has a Bachelor of Science in Applied Psychology from New York University and is a graduate of the Los Angeles branch of the New York Film Academy in Filmmaking and Screenwriting. She is currently enrolled at the University of California, Los Angeles Extension School pursuing her Business and Management of Entertainment Certificate. The first short film that she wrote, produced and starred in—Rise Sunshine premiered at the Hollywood Film Festival. Her company, SIN Productions is dedicated to creating content that will inspire and uplift people to overcome the most insurmountable obstacles. Her first feature film Devolving is currently in development.

I sat in front of the class quietly as many of the students behind me argued, played games, and threw things at each other and the teacher. I looked at the teacher with a look that said, “why am I here, I’m not learning anything?” She looked back at me and shrugged her shoulders with a sad face as if she wanted to apologize. No words, just silence. I remember this moment vividly. I wanted to say something to her, but I didn’t. I could see the look of defeat in her body. I wanted to tell the rest of the class to shut up, but I was too afraid of what would happen if I did. I was the new girl, in a new state, in a new school, with no allies. I never went back to class. All of this loudness and noise surrounded me, but the only thing I felt was overwhelming silence. This experience was one of many where I felt silenced. Throughout my life, I’ve searched for ways to break that silence. Then I started to write. I write and I tell stories because I’m no longer interested in participating in my own silence.

My superpower is empathy. From a young age, I always knew that I wanted to help people — people like me — although I didn’t know how to. I spent much of my time doing volunteer work with survivors of rape and domestic violence. My desire to better serve individuals experiencing trauma led me to New York University, where I studied and graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Applied Psychology.

I am a native New Yorker that spent my formative years in Philly—I witnessed first-hand the limited options for people living in poverty, particularly racial-ethnic minorities, and as a young woman of color many things felt intangible to me. I joined the Air Force, realizing the military would provide me with skills and opportunities to succeed in life. After 7 years of honorable service, I decided I wanted to share my experiences of tragedy and transformation with other people. I attended the New York Film Academy for Filmmaking and Screenwriting; I started to act, write, and produce as a platform to share my experiences. The first short film that I wrote, produced and starred in, Rise Sunshine premiered at the Hollywood Film Festival.

I’ve just completed writing my first feature-length screenplay, which I am producing, with the hopes of making people feel like they can overcome the most insurmountable obstacles.
